Dairy farmers Julian and Dianne Benson launched Apostle Whey Cheese on October 29, 2005. Since that day, Apostle Whey Cheese has taken out a number of major cheese awards and become an important tourism drawcard for the region. Just a short drive from the Twelve Apostles and the Great Ocean Road, Apostle Whey Cheese is a genuine paddock to plate operation. The family’s dairy herd has been bred to produce milk with high butterfat and protein levels, which is critical to the flavours they achieve with their cheeses. Apostle Whey Cheese offers visitors a unique experience whereby they can see all aspects of the operation – from the cows being milked right through to the cheeses being hand made. Free cheese tastings are available every day of the year (except Christmas Day) with onsite sales and refreshments available while you enjoy the view over the farm.
Berry World was founded by the Kerr family who ran the strawberry farm for 46 years. The Nicholl’s family saw an opportunity and purchased the land and business in November 2014, adding a café and some farm animals, including a Clydesdale horse and cart as well as a small grove of fruit trees and a veggie patch. Always extending and adding something new each season.
Berry World has strawberries (both PYO and prepacked), raspberries, blackberries & boysenberries. In 2018 they added cherries, apples, pears and nashis as well as some vegetables. They also make jams, relish, dessert sauce and chili sauce. Sadly, in 2020 they suffered damage to their cafe due to bushfires – rebuilding is currently underway and due for completion early 2021.

Timboon Fine Ice Cream was established in October 1999 by Tim Marwood and Caroline Simmons. Being a 3rd generation dairy farmer, Tim has a real connection to the land. His grandfather was a progressive farmer developing early irrigation practices in the 1940s and his dad was one of the first farmers in the district to milk ‘a cow to the acre’ in the 1970s. Adding value to their family dairy operation was the key motivational factor in exploring and developing the brand that has become Timboon Fine Ice Cream.
For 21 years Tim and Caroline have been making their famous ice cream on their property 7km from Timboon. Fresh milk comes from The Doolan’s family farm down the road and fresh cream from Warrnambool Cheese and Butter Factory.
The ice cream has an unmistakable creamy smoothness. With all ice cream ‘fresh is best’ and using the local fresh milk and cream makes a beautiful premium boutique ice cream.
Timboon whisky is made on site. It is a true single malt whisky, distilled in a 600-litre copper pot still, using Australian malted barley as the single grain ingredient. Timboon Railway Shed Distillery is inspired by the great single malts of Scotland and the Isles. They follow the same time-honoured traditions, producing in small batches in Timboon since 2007. With an illicit distilling past in the 1800’s, in the 21st century, the history continues with the Walker family.
Timboon Railway Shed Distillery offer great regional food fare every day. Led by Head Chef Simon Yarham, the kitchen team creates a different focus for each season. Lunch is served on the covered deck, heated in winter and cooled in summer.
The distillery is located right across the creek from Timboon Fine Ice Cream and offers a destination with a real ‘sense of place’ renowned for its rich, creamy texture.
